@Wambui, buy the twists? If you want to try them out before you make the big decision you could also get extensions, there are a couple of locticians that do this in london. If you're interested I could ask for you. Or just take a leap of faith and get the gel locks at once :) I'll def be waiting for the pics

@M....it's always harder for the people around you to accept your decision. When I got locks, everyone was so scared for me...lol...but they'll never understand the joy of being natural

i pratically shaved my hair during my second pregnancy 3 years ago i wanted to be natural again. I have never regretted my decision it was more difficult for my family than for me.

Wambui, hurray....great you're joining the club. As for dreadlocks there are a couple of ways to go about it. I bet you want manicured locks, so I would encourage you to either get Sisterlocks or Twist locks. Well, I would say twist locks are easier to maintain after they lock coz u can do them yourself at home and those are the kind i have as for sisterlocks; they are more versatile but can be quite costly as they are a copyright from the US and only certified sisterlock consultants are allowed to do them hence not very flexible if you don't find a certified consultant.
On this I'd be a bit biased and advise to get twists, you only need a loctician for the first time then continue doing them yourself at home. You could also get someone to do two strand twists to your natural hair that you later "seal" with gel after a while to form twist locks.

Hope that helps if not, then post more questions here or on my blog. The new blog address is www.nafrolinky.com
